Turvey House

Turvey House was built 1565 by Sir Christopher Barnewall, Kt.
He died 1575.
Barnewall of Turvey were prominent Catholics and Royalists in the 17th cent. See [Archer, pre-1949].
Turvey was seat of Viscounts Barnewall of Kingsland.
A late 17th cent. house was built around the original tower house.
The whole was demolished in 1987.
