Arthur Blennerhassett, of Gortatlea, Co.Kerry




The will of Arthur Blennerhassett of Gortatlea was proved 1841.
From Ardfert and Aghadoe wills.
This would have been burnt in 1922.




Arthur Blennerhassett, born c.1755,
of Gortatlea (pronounced "Gorta-clay", SE of Tralee), Ballymacelligott par, Co.Kerry,
and Skaghduve (Blackbriar), Co.Kerry.
This branch was Protestant, but disinherited.
He mar Emily Williams.
[Burkes Irish, 1976] is wrong to think he was bur 21 Aug 1826. That is the infant Arthur of Ballyseedy.
He probably died 1840 (tomb erected 1840, will proved 1841).
He was bur at the old Ballyseedy CoI graveyard.
A table tomb was erected in memory of him at Ballyseedy old graveyard (near front centre) by his four sons, Thomas, Arthur, Richard and John, "for them and their posterity", dated 10 May 1840.
The will of Arthur Blennerhassett of Gortatlea was proved 1841. See Ardfert and Aghadoe wills. This would have been burnt in 1922.

    Church of Ireland,
    he died 1873, age 87 yrs,
    she died 1884, age 90 yrs,
    had issue:

    1. John Arthur Blennerhassett, born 1829,
      mar 1862 in Co.Kerry and had issue,
      lived at Glenageenty, near Castleisland, Co.Kerry,
      died 1895, Co.Kerry.

    2. Thomas A. Blennerhassett, born 1842, had issue:
      1. Thomas Blennerhassett, born 1874, had issue:

        1. Frank Blennerhassett, born 1915.
          He mar 1950 to Nancy Sims [born 1921] and had issue.
          He researched family history.
          Author of [Blennerhassett and Hollwey, 1991].


  3. Richard Arthur Blennerhassett,
    mar 1829 to Mary Blennerhassett and had issue.


  4. John Blennerhassett.
