Slains Castle was the seat of Hay, Earl of Erroll.
There was an older castle.
The new Slains Castle was built by Francis Hay, 9th Earl of Erroll 1597.
Henry Noltie became valet to the 15th Earl of Erroll c.1768. He would have worked at Slains.
Slains Castle was Bram Stoker's inspiration for the castle of Count Dracula (1897).
Slains Castle was sold 1916 and fell into ruins.
