appointed 1586 as Clerk of the Castle Chamber in Ireland (would be at Dublin Castle),
mar Margaret Deeringe [dau of Capt. William Deeringe],
he was granted in 1607 the confiscated McDaniel estate of Rattoo, Rattoo par, near Ballyhorgan and Ballyduff, some distance W of Listowel, N Co.Kerry (see map),
MP for Askeaton 1613-15,
he died 1626,
she died 1632,
had issue:

  1. Anthony Stoughton,
    of Rattoo, Co.Kerry, born 1601,
    BA Dublin 1622,
    Clerk of the Castle Chamber, Dublin Castle,
    listed as "of Dublin" on wife's epitaph,
    mar 1stly to Mary Mainwaringe [dau of Henry Mainwaringe of Kilkenny, or Mainwaring],
    she died 1631, bur with infant in St.Canice's Cathedral, Kilkenny, with epitaph,
    MP for Ardfert 1639-49,
    mar 2ndly to Honora O'Brien [descendant of Kings of Thomond and of Edward III],
    he died 1667, age 66 yrs,
    bur St. John's church (now gone), Fishamble St, Dublin,
    the Gun family acquired Rattoo 1669, Stoughton lived at nearby Ballyhorgan House (built c.1750),
    had issue by 2nd wife:

    1. Ellen Stoughton, mar Thomas Blennerhassett and had issue.

    2. Henry Stoughton, mar 2ndly to Sarah Crosbie and had issue:
      1. Anthony Stoughton, mar Sarah Lloyd and had issue:
        1. Anthony Stoughton, of Ballyhorgan, mar Elizabeth Bateman and had issue:
          1. Sarah Stoughton, mar 1765 to William Townsend Gun and had issue.
          2. Penelope Stoughton, mar Rev. Maynard Denny and had issue.
