Francis Lyons is listed at Coomlogane in at least 1860 to 1865.
Coomlogane is the estate on the NW side of Millstreet. Coomlogane townland includes W part of Millstreet town.




Francis Lyons,
born 1806 [by age on death cert, but suspect probably younger],
of Millstreet, Co.Cork.
Sometimes spelt "Lyne" or "Lynes" in records.

At children's births and deaths 1865 and 1866 he signs with "his mark". Which suggests he is illiterate.

He mar pre-1853 to Mary Kelleher [or Keleher, born 1826].
On Francis' death cert she signs with "her mark". Which suggests she is illiterate.

At son's bapt 1854 they are living Ballydaly, some distance NW of Millstreet.
At children's bapts 1860 to 1863 they are living Coomlogane, right in Millstreet town.
At children's births and deaths 1865 they are living Coomlogane, Millstreet. He is a "labourer".
At dau's birth 1866 they are living Mill Lane, Millstreet town. He is a "labourer".

Apparently jailed for assault, 1882:
"Francis Lyons of Millstreet" appears in the Millstreet Petty Sessions on Mon 25 Sept 1882, charged with assault and breach of the peace on 21 Sept 1882 at Mount Leader near Millstreet.
We presume this is him, though he would be quite old.
He again appears in the Millstreet Petty Sessions on Mon 9 Oct 1882. Same case.
He again appears in the Millstreet Petty Sessions on Mon 4 Dec 1882. Same case. This records that for the assault on 21 Sept, he was imprisoned for 14 days with hard labour in Cork County Gaol.

Francis is listed as "labourer" at dau's mar 1892.
He is listed as "farm labourer" on death cert, and on Mary's death cert.
He died Main St, Millstreet, 23 July 1896, age 90 years [death cert].

Mary was living Millstreet in 1896.
She died in Millstreet Workhouse, 6 Apr 1909, age 83 yrs.

    would be born Dec 1853,
    bapt 1 Jan 1854, Millstreet RC church.
    See bapt entry LHS and RHS from here. John is written "Lynch". His father Francis is written "Lyne".
    Said to have died 1865. Can't find death cert.

  2. Michael Lyons,
    born 1858.
    He died 10 May 1865, Coomlogane, Millstreet, age 7 yrs [GROI].


  3. Ellen Lyons,
    born 14 Nov 1860,
    bapt 18 Nov 1860, Millstreet RC church.

    She mar pre-1882 to Daniel Gleeson and had issue.
    They lived at Tullig, townland on SE side of Millstreet.
    They are listed in 1901 census at Tullig.
    She died 1902.


  4. Francis Lyons,
    born 16 Feb 1863,
    bapt 22 Feb 1863, Millstreet RC church.

    Said to have died 1865. Can't find death cert.


  5. Michael Lyons,
    second Michael,
    born at Coomlogane, Millstreet, 24 Sept 1865 [birth cert] or 25 Sept 1865 [bapt cert].

    He was bapt 27 Sept 1865, Millstreet RC church.

    born Mill Lane, Millstreet, 25 Dec 1866 [birth cert] or 26 Dec 1866 [bapt cert].

    She died 1 Feb 1906, Mangerton View, Killarney, Co.Kerry.
    They had issue:

    1. Margaret Casey, born 1897.
      She mar Humphrey O'Leary
      and had issue:

      1. Kathleen O'Leary.
        DNA match (borderline) to James Riordan. The match may be through Lyons.
