Anthony Stoughton,
of Rattoo, Co.Kerry,
born 1601.
He was educ Trinity College, Dublin. BA 1622.
Clerk of the Castle Chamber, Dublin Castle (like his father before him).
Listed as "of Dublin" on wife's epitaph.

He mar 1stly to Mary Mainwaringe [dau of Henry Mainwaringe of Kilkenny, or Mainwaring].
She died 3 Jan 1631.
She was bur with infant in St.Canice's Cathedral, Kilkenny, with epitaph.
He was MP for Ardfert 1639-1649.

He mar 2ndly to Honora O'Brien [descendant of Kings of Thomond and of Edward III].
His will dated at Cork, 30 Aug 1644.
He died 2 Sept 1667, age 66 yrs.
He was bur 7 Sept 1667 at St. John's church (now gone), Fishamble St, Dublin.
Anthony had issue by 2nd wife:


  1. Margaret Stoughton,
    [Burkes Irish, 1912] says she is dau of 2nd mar, so must be born post-1631,
    mar Launcelot Sandes and had issue.


  2. Ellen Stoughton,
    mar Thomas Blennerhassett and had issue.


  3. Henry Stoughton,
    of Rattoo.
    He mar 2ndly to Sarah Crosbie.
    The Gun family acquired Rattoo 1669.
    Stoughton later lived at nearby Ballyhorgan House.
    Henry had issue by 2nd wife:

    1. Anthony Stoughton, of Rattoo, mar Sarah Lloyd and had issue:
      1. Anthony Stoughton, of Rattoo, mar 1748 to Elizabeth Bateman and had issue:
        1. Sarah Stoughton, mar 1765 to William Townsend Gun and had issue.
        2. Penelope Stoughton, mar Rev. Maynard Denny and had issue.
