these notes confirm that John McCoy was grandfather of the McCoy who mar Barrett,
mar Margaret Patt [born 1840],
he had house, Main St, Glin, Co.Limerick, where he ran shop, that was eventually inherited by Barrett, who ran family pub there,
he is described as "shopkeeper" and "grocer" at children's births,
he would be John McCoy, grocer, married, who died 10 Dec 1874, Glin, age 34 yrs, of dysentery [GROI], death reported by Margaret McCoy,
Margaret was living Glin in 1881,
she would be "Margaret McCoy" listed as a "grocer" and "vintner" at Glin in [Ashe's Directory, 1891-92],
there is a separate "John McCoy" listed as a "grocer" and "vintner" and "baker" at Glin in [Ashe's Directory, 1891-92], this may be the family of a John McCoy, baker, who died 1888 [GROI],
"Mrs. McCoy" is listed as one of the chief mourners at Thomas Francis Rahilly's funeral 1899,
John definitely died pre-1901,
Margaret is listed as widow in Glin village in [Census, 1901], she is listed as "shopkeeper (spirits)", her children referred to as "vintner's son" and "vintner's daughter",
John is listed as grocer, deceased, at his dau Margaret's mar 1903,
had issue:

1. Elizabeth McCoy,
   born c.1863, Co.Limerick [LDS IGI],
   mar c.1888, "Limerick Cashel Ireland", to Michael Fitzgerald,
   she died June 1906, age c.45 yrs,
   he died 11 June 1936.

2. Mary McCoy,
   born 27 Nov 1865, Glin, see entry in [LDS IGI],
   must have died in infancy (there is another Mary).

3. Catherine McCoy,
   born 12 Dec 1867, Glin [LDS IGI],
   Presentation Nun, "Sister Mary Ursula".

4. Mary McCoy,
   born 17 June 1870, Glin,
   she would be Mary McCoy (would be unmarried) who wit mar of her sister 1903.

   born 23 Mar 1872, Glin, see entry in [LDS IGI],
   famous Gaelic football player of turn of century,
   he presumably played for Limerick, note Limerick won All-Ireland senior football championship in 1896 season, final played 6 Feb 1898, see here and here,
   living at home unmarried in 1901 census,
   "Pat McCoy of Glin" was referee for Tarbert Rovers v. Ballylongford (football) in Tarbert, Sun 13th Oct 1901,
   mar 1907 to Margaret Mary ---- [born 1877, Co.Kerry],
   they are listed in Main St, Glin, in [Census, 1911], he is listed as "shopkeeper",
   listed as "general merchant" at dau's mar 1936,
   had issue:
   1. Margaret McCoy, born 1908, Co.Limerick,
      mar --- Daly and had issue:
      1. Monica Daly, mar Melville Mac Cormick.
      2. Mary Daly.

   2. Hannah McCoy,
      Hanora Catherine McCoy, born 1909, Co.Limerick,
      described as "shopkeeper" at mar, living Main St, Glin,
      mar 1936 to her 2nd cousin Jim Barrett [born 1908] and had issue.

   3. Elizabeth McCoy, born c.Dec 1910, Co.Limerick (age under 4 months in census of 2 April 1911).
   4. 1 other child McCoy, born and died before 1911.
   5. Nellie McCoy, born post-1911, mar Steve O'Donnell.
