mar 1808 [him age 60] to Catherine Walsh,

    mar 1stly to ---- and had issue:

    1. Edward Hartshorn, born 1848, East Indies.
    2. Phillip Hartshorn, born 1852, East Indies.

    his wife died,
    at 2nd mar he is listed as Captain in the 24th Regiment of Foot,
    at 2nd mar he is listed as widower, living Ontario Terrace, Dublin (Grand Canal at Rathmines, see map),
    mar 2ndly, 1853, Dublin, to Minnie Frederica Ponsonby [born 1833],
    see family listed in 1871 UK census at 21 Broughton Lane, Higher Broughton, Salford (Greater Manchester, see map), he is listed as "Captain of Infantry on half pay",
    he became Major in 24th Regiment of Foot,
    he died 26 Dec 1897, age 87 yrs,
    bur St.John the Evangelist church yard, Murray Street, Higher Broughton (now derelict, see street view),
    she died 27 Nov 1919, age 86 yrs,
    bur St.John the Evangelist church yard, Higher Broughton,
    see marriages and burials of children,
    had issue by 2nd wife:


    1. Catherine Hartshorn, born 1855, Chatham, Kent.

    2. Robert Henry Markham Hartshorn,
      born 1857, Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, eldest son of 2nd marriage,
      disinherited in 1883 after he married Annie Froggett,
      died 1908, age 51 yrs.

    3. Minnie F. Hartshorn, born 1858, Broughton, Manchester.

    4. William Ponsonby Hartshorn, born 1859, Broughton,
      bapt 21 May 1859, Manchester Cathedral.

    5. Annie Hartshorn, born 1861, Broughton.
    6. Emily Hartshorn, born 1863, Broughton.
    7. Charles Hartshorn, born 1865, Broughton.
    8. Fanny Hartshorn, born 1866, Broughton.
    9. Wilhelmina Hartshorn, born 1870, Broughton.
