Jack Riordan, of Tralee


Jack Riordan,
John Blennerhassett Mary Riordan, Johnny,
born 17 Aug 1908, Cork.
He was educ Christian Brothers College, Cork (CBC Cork). Captain of their rugby team.
Played in Munster schools rugby.
He worked for years around Ireland in the bacon industry.

He mar 1948, Cork, to Peggy Culnan [Margaret, Peg, from Dungarvan, Co.Waterford]. No issue.
He moved in July 1950 to Tralee, Co.Kerry.
He was manager, Co-operative Wholesale Society (CWS) bacon factory, Tralee.
He was President of the CWS Sports Club, Tralee.
He became an Urban District Councillor in 1955, shortly before his death.
He was elected a member of Tralee Urban Council in 1955 local elections.
He lived Racecourse Road, Tralee. Living there at death 1955.
Listed at death as "Manager of Bacon Factory".

Jack died, 1955:
He died at Tralee, Wed 13 July 1955, of coronary thrombosis, age 46 yrs [GROI].
He collapsed on steps of Tralee courthouse, Ashe St, Tralee. He died shortly after at a doctor's surgery nearby on Ashe St.

Funeral from Ballinlough Church, Cork. See mass card.
Obituary says he was buried in Ballinlough Cemetery, but I cannot find such a place.
He must be bur St.Joseph's cemetery, Cork. His name is on the Riordan grave there.
Peggy lived Racecourse Road, Tralee.

Peggy died, 1999:
She died 6 Dec 1999.
She must be bur St.Joseph's cemetery, Cork.
