James Brodrick,
fisherman,
mar Catherine Lindsay,
wonder if he is James Broderick who is listed in [Griffiths Valuation, 1852] as renting a modest house with no land at Tullacrimeen, Kiltomy par, NC Co.Kerry (see map, between Tralee and Listowel, nowhere near either Ballylongford or the sea),
had issue:


  1. Edward Brodrick,
    born 1846 (according to most records), or 1845 (according to age at 1871 census),
    born in Ballylongford, Co.Kerry (according to later census entries),
    fisherman, and seaman in merchant services,
    probably went to sea from Ballylongford,
    probably as a result of leaving school early to go to sea, he was actually illiterate, he left "his mark" on his mar cert and his dau's birth cert,
    in [UK census, 1871] he is found on the ship "Malcolm" at Neath in S Wales, listed as "able seaman",
    married a girl from Inverness, Scotland, and settled there,
    living Inverness at mar, married according to Church of Scotland,
    mar 27 Sept 1872 [him age 26, her age 15 but pretending to be older], Inverness [GRO.Scot],
    to Sarah Cameron [born 18 Oct 1856, Inverness, dau of Duncan Cameron and Sarah McKenzie],
    in [UK census, 1881] he is found on the ship "Rossland" or "Rosslind" (from Inverness), then in port at Newcastle, he is listed as AB seaman,
    he is listed as "seaman (merchant service)" at dau's birth 1883,
    they are listed at 16 Nelson St, Inverness (see map) in [Scotland census, 1891], he is listed as "seaman",
    they are living 12 Madras St, Inverness (see map), in [Scotland census, 1901], he is listed as "seaman",
    listed as "labourer" at death, also at one point listed as "Railway Labourer",
    he died 6 July 1909, 24 Bridge St, Inverness (see map), age 63 yrs [GRO.Scot],
    Sarah died 4 Dec 1938, 2 Milnes Buildings, Inverness, age 82 yrs,
    had among other issue:

    1. Elizabeth Brodrick, born 1881.

    2. Edwardina Brodrick,
      born 26 Dec 1883, 21 Madras St, Inverness [GRO.Scot],
      she worked as a French Polisher,
      mar 21 Dec 1906, Inverness [GRO.Scot] to Thomas Irvine [born 1877, gardener],
      he died 1926, Inverness, age 49 yrs,
      she died 19 Mar 1931, Inverness, age 47 yrs [GRO.Scot],
      had among other issue:

      1. Margret Irvine, born 1922, Inverness,
        orphaned 1931,
        she was a nurse,
        mar Sydney Crofts [born 1920, Derby, Derbyshire],
        he died 1983, Belper, Derbyshire, age 63 yrs,
        she died 1987, Derby, age 65 yrs,
        had issue:

        1. George Crofts, researching family tree.
